When it comes to English, which is my second language, I am still making tans of mistakes every single days. And I am learning from them.

Just want to share a bit of my English mistakes with you. These are examples of what I thought I heard from somebody, but they did not really meant that way. Or, I meant to say something, but it turned out a bit strange…

I don’t think I am that slow, but sometime it takes a few minutes, hours, sometime years to realize… “Ah! I misunderstood what s/he meant!” And it usually gives me good giggles, or desire to get drunk, or even an urge to go to Netherlands.

This is probably the biggest part of reason why my life gets crazy, as I don’t quite get the right message sometime – plus, all those memory loss from 15 years ago… I am basically a mess. But, mess with good attitude.

Here are some examples of my mess. I am not making these things up

Example 1)

- at church, sexual behavior discussion group;
Somebody said “being Celibate”
I thought I heard “being Halibut”

Example 2)

- during conversation with a Catholic priest
He said “Life at Seminary is like….”
I thought I heard “Life at Cemetary is like…”

Example 3)

- at grocery store
I wanted to say “Ear of corn”
I actually said “Mouth of corn”

Example 4)

- at music practice
I wanted to say “Who is doing Descant?”
I actually said “Who is being Decadent?”

Example 5)

- at school, before my speech
I wanted to say “I have a butterfly in my stomach”
I actually said “I have a bug in my stomach”

Example 6)

- during conversation about where my friends are getting married
They said “at Synagogue”
I thought they said “at Senegal”

Example 7)

- at church,
A pastor said “Jesus was executed by Pontius Pilate”
I thought (for many, many years) “Jesus was executed by Pontius Pirate”

Grrrrrr!

Not just Hot Dog Eating contest.

Yes, I am. I am so, damn lucky, that I get to do what I like and get paid – tour guiding, writing, interpreting, elfing, men’s-underwear-consulting, homeschooling (for my kids, not paid), dancing (not technically a job… wait, I did get paid to dance hula) – anything I do, pretty much, I enjoy. So, I am lucky.

For Japanese people, who tend to believe that “suffering is a virtue,” my lucky life is not so acceptable, apparently.

Now… Is Luck really just a Luck?

Let’s see…

I think Luck comes from the encounter with right people at the right timing.
I enjoy my life.
I enjoy other people’s lives.
I enjoy good vibes from me, and from other people.
I appreciate things and people around me, therefore,
I want to interact with them anytime, anywhere.
I end up having many encounters, which bring me more lucky situations.

Oh, and I work really, really hard, too!

So, for my Japanese friends:

“Sorry that I am so lucky – and I am trying to feel suffered by being lucky, but I can’t – what a terrible suffering!” – see? I am still a Japanese

Knowing myself pretty well, I will REALLY regret if I did not have a chance to share with people I love, about “How much I love you all.” I guess it will be too late to share at my funeral, as I will not be able to speak.

So, here it is, My Love Letter to People/Things I Love

To my husband ;

You are beyond words could describe. All my life, I did not understand why I deserve you. You are in a way insane that you wanted to be my husband. I loved you so much, and all the crazy stuff we did together (well, mostly I did) were amazing. You are the best thing, the very best thing in my life.

To my kids :

I was never a normal mom for you, but I loved you very, very much. You taught me many things, including the importance of having a place to grow, and the importance of wearing clean underwear all the time. You will be fine. Even if you happen to be gay, try to have a family with somebody you love. It’s worth it.

To my parents ;

You are the most patient people on earth, to be my parents. Thank you for teaching me to “love life in my own way” – probably the best lesson I ever learnt. I hope my kids learn that from you, too. Sorry I don’t remember everything you did for me when I was young, but I do appreciate that you were always there for me.

To my female friends ;

Shine! you are all sooooooo beautiful inside & outside. Don’t use any negative energy to hate or dislike – it’s not worth it. Use your body and mind as assets for your life. I felt so honored to get to know you. No, I was not a lesbian.

To my male friends ;

You were all crazy to hang out with a married woman like me, but I sure enjoyed our time together! Remember that you are all hotties, if not, I did not become your friend. And, my boobs were not fake, in case you were wondering.

To Pastor Pam and Pastor Bachman ;

I bet it was a challenge to have a congregation member like me.
Thank you, for not judging me in a way a lot of people do. I love you very much.

To my church friends ;

Yes, I was not a typical christian, but I believed in believing. Enjoyed singing in a choir, playing handbells, drinking weak coffee, cutting way too many Costco cakes with you all. Jesus rocks!

To my Baristas ;

I hope there is Vivace in heaven (or hell, whichever I go)…

To my favorite DJs and band members ;

Thank you for the great music and great vibe. I needed that A LOT!

To my Hula friends ;

I could not have enough time to dance with you – but you all had great Aloha in your hearts. Makana – you were more than my Kumu. Aloha & Mahalo Nui Loa.

To my friends in Japan ;

Sorry, I don’t remember much about you guys – but I am sure you were all fabulous. Being Japanese is cool, but you should know what you want and you should be able to express yourselves more – of course, it’s just my opinion.

To my work friends ;

You made my work days more exciting and fun! Yap, I know, we did not agree on all the opinions and stuff, but we survived together. Keep on doing the best you can!

To people I thought I did not like ;

No, I did not mean it, really. If you tried to hurt my feelings before, well, you are all forgiven. Just don’t do it again to anyone.

I am, for my work, always meeting with Japanese tourists with masks – but they are wearing exactly same ones, not so interesting… no fashion statement, what so ever.

Speaking of brains, I saw two frozen goat heads at the Halal meat market. Can anyone teach me how to cook those?

Yes, it is my new thing (could be just during Lent…?) I decided that I like “Bollywood” – not so much the stories of music, but the music they used for the movies, its fab!
They are fun to dance to, simply casual, yet very sexy. 

Speaking of sexy, I think, Indian women are extremely beautiful and sexy. 

I am not a lesbian, but I don’t mind looking at them… hmmm… 

Apparently there are some Bolywood nights going on at the Baltic Room in Cap Hill – I am so going to check it out

I gave up coffee for Lent.
